G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero #318
Writer: Larry Hama
Pencils: Paul Pelletier
Summary:
In Springfield, Dawn Moreno and Storm Shadows sneaks through the sewers and into Dr. Mindbender’s lab, gathering intel. They encounter a leftover cyborg trooper, then overhear narration from some Cobra Troopers that Cobra Commander is trapped in Castle Destro, but has escape tools hidden in his beret. CC escapes his cell and the Castle, but it turns out that Destro was aware and allowed him to leave. CC was implanted with a “Nueral Trigger” by Destro and that plan is now afoot.
At the Cobra Casino, Multo and Helix also sneak around, disguising themselves as (cyborg) tourist and a Revanche cyborg. They also observe some intel: Dr. Mindbender has arrived at the Casino with the body of Serpentor.
Back in Springfield, Jinx’s cover as “Nina” is blown, when the overly amorous Monty tries to smooch her…and notices that she’s NOT “Nina”.
Notes:
- Yeah, another “move the plot along” issue. Nothing really memorable or exciting that merits a full cover price. Sorry. Again, I think that’s the accepted norm for how modern comics move along. “Write for the TPB or Collected Edition”
- Alpha-001 appears in a hologram form as the human “Al Farr”.Gotta’ keep those puns rolling.
- Cobra Commander escapes by commandeering the truck of a local named “Robbie McCleod”. He’s actually popped up before, so to speak. Back in issue 202, Zartan disguised himself as “Robbie McCleod”.
